Skin during menopause - characteristics and care of mature skin

Menopause  It starts on average between the ages of 45 and 55 and is associated with a decrease in the level of estrogens , or female hormones. The cause is the inability of the ovarian follicles to produce enough of this hormone, which largely changes the physiology and affects skin appearance  - you'll find out soon how, we invite you to read :)

Menopause and the skin – stages and changes occurring during menopause

The menopause period is a progressive decrease in the level of collagen in the skin - it is one of its main building materials. Almost 30% of collagen fibers are lost in the first 5 years after the onset of menopause, which is why it is necessary to take special care of it. The skin becomes dry, thin as parchment, wrinkles and discolorations appear on it, and the skin tone becomes uneven.

The perimenopause period is not only a slower rate of new collagen production, but also an accelerated rate of its degradation, which leads to increased dryness, wrinkles, loss of firmness and elasticity, impaired wound healing, and reduced antioxidant capacity of the skin. Our skin is equipped with a whole protective system, one of its elements being antioxidants (antioxidants) , the level of which decreases significantly with age. Therefore, skin care during menopause must be rich in antioxidants, plant extracts, and e.g. vitamin C and its derivatives and vitamin A (i.e. retinol or retinal).

It turns out that it is our female hormone - estradiol - that has antioxidant properties and leads to increased levels of other substances with antioxidant action.

Another frequently noticed skin problem during menopause is the tendency to develop redness or telangiectasia (so-called capillaries), which results from the strong influence of estrogens on blood vessels; a deficiency of these hormones affects the greater tendency to develop vascular changes.

Care complexion during menopause – skin mature

The skin during menopause can completely change, from oily skin to dry skin, so it is often a time of complete change of home care. The first extremely important cosmetic goal is stimulating the skin to collagen production  and slowing down the rate of its degradation.

Retinoids - retinal , ingredient anti-wrinkle

Retinoids (e.g. retinol or retinal) are great at stimulating the skin to produce collagen . These are compounds that have a documented effect on stimulating the production of collagen, additionally reducing the level of enzymes that degrade it. One of the extremely effective retinoids is retinal , which you will find in the Bioklinika line, e.g. Anti-wrinkle firming cream 50+ for day and night or Anti-wrinkle serum-micro-injection for the face, neck and décolleté for day and night 50-70+ .

Anti-wrinkle firming cream 50+ is a combination of retinal with niacinamide , which has a synergistic effect to retinoids, has a strong anti-inflammatory effect, also improves the functioning of the skin's hydrolipid barrier and increases its hydration. In the anti-wrinkle serum, in addition to retinal, we can distinguish as many as 15 amino acids that soothe and calm the skin. The cream and serum also contain peony, which, through its estrogenic effect, stimulates the production of collagen .

Vitamin C – brightening and antioxidant effect

Another important goal in care will be strong effect antioxidant by using ingredients antioxidants , e.g. Vitamin C. You will find this ingredient in n moisturizing m cream brightening effect antioxidant m with vitamin C. Vitamin C is a valuable active ingredient that works antioxidant and brightening .

Antioxidants – sea buckthorn extract

An ingredient that will take care of both antioxidation skin, and it will work well in skin care vascular ,  with redness, capillaries will be sea buckthorn. Additionally, it strongly influences the level of moisture in the epidermis. You will find this ingredient in plant active serum for radiance and hydration of the skin - sea buckthorn,  where there is also niacinamide and troxerutin a  -  this composition will be perfect for dry, sensitive, vascular skin, overreactive . Sea buckthorn extract  you will also find in plant mass  moisturizing it with sea buckthorn , which strongly soothes and calms the skin. The composition also includes gluconolactone , a strongly moisturizing and moisturizing ingredient action anti-inflammatory , again great for red, dry, sensitive and atrophic skin.

Remember that menopause is a time of dynamic changes for the skin, the level of a key hormone drops dramatically, which affects every aspect of its physiology. During menopause, it can become dry, atrophic, the visibility of wrinkles can significantly increase . It is important to take on key goals in home care, i.e.: ANTIOXIDATION, STIMULATION, MOISTURIZATION.

To take care of its antioxidant potential, think especially about niacinamide, vitamin C, ferulic acid . In terms of stimulation, a combination of retinoids and niacinamide will work brilliantly. When it comes to hydration, it is worth thinking about niacinamide, amino acids, sea buckthorn and ceramides . An extremely interesting direction in care is the use of phytoestrogens, which through their action can stimulate the production of collagen fibers, e.g. peony extract or resveratrol.

Home care should be designed to address all the needs of menopausal skin, I hope you already know how to do it :)
